7 (of 10) photographs from Portfolio Five (New York: Parasol Press, 1970), each mounted to Strathmore board, signed, and with sequential numbers and edition '69/110' or '36/110' in pencil on the mount, the portfolio stamp, title and plate number in ink, on the reverse, one framed, 1936-60, printed in 1970; together with the printed title, colophon, plate list, introduction, and statement by Nancy Newhall.  Elephant folio, beige linen clamshell box, nos. 36 and 69 in an edition of 110 (Portfolios, pls. 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, and 10) (7)

Condition

These prints are in generally excellent condition. Plates 1, 3, 6, 8, 9, and 10 are each from edition '69/110.' Plate 2 is from edition '36/110.' Plates 4 ('Moon and Clouds, Northern California'), 5 ('Forest and Stream, Northern California'), and 7 ('The Black Sun, Tungsten Hills, Owens Valley, California') are not present. The plates are as follows: 1. 'Pinnacles, Alabama Hills, Owens Valley, California, 1945' 2. 'Mudhills, Arizona, 1947' - This print is framed. The reverse of the mount is hinged along its upper edge to a mat. 3. 'Lone Pine Peak, Sierra Nevada, California, c. 1960' 6. 'Petroglyphs, Monument Valley, Utah, 1958' 8. 'Woman Behind Screen Door, Independence, California, 1944' 9. 'White Stump, Sierra Nevada, California, 1936' 10. 'Pipes and Gauges, West Virginia, 1939' The portfolio case is soiled from handling, mainly at the periphery.
