Catalogue Note

This drawing of Christopher Robin and a black hen accompanies the poem 'The Little Black Hen' in A.A. Milne's Now We Are Six (Methuen, 1927). It is reproduced on page 62.

'I'm not a King
And I haven't a crown;
I climb up trees,
And I tumble down.
I can shut one eye,
I can count to ten,
So lay me an egg, please,
Little Black Hen.'
