tazza en vermeil et argent, probablement Flandres espagnoles, XVIe siècle

Les monstres marins aux yeux globuleux, les voiles inhabituellement arrondies et le fût en balustre à prise en bobine de style hispanique sont tous des éléments retrouvés sur une autre tazza provenant de la famille royale portugaise et maintenant conservée au museo Nacional de Arte Antigua à Lisbonne (ref. MNAA 886 Our). Les vaisseaux représentés sur cette tazza sont conformes aux caraques du XVIe siècle, qui étaient composées de trois mâts grée-carré,  avec une voile latine à l'artimon,  et deux châteaux à la proue et la poupe.

The sea monsters with their pronounced bulbous eyes, the unusually rounded sails of the ships and the baluster stem with its Hispanic spool knop supporting the tazza bowl are all features that can be compared closely with a tazza which belonged to the Portuguese Royal Family  and is now in the museo Nacional de Arte Antigua in Lisbon (ref. MNAA 886 Our). The sailing vessels shown on the tazza conform with the Spanish and Portuguese carrack of the 16th century, which were three masterd square rigged vessels, with a latteen-rigged mizzen and high fore and aft castles.
