the guards with carved ivory inset reserved against mother-of-pearl, the sticks decorated with a gilt Chinoiserie landscape, the silk leaf centred with a temple of Love flanked by scenes of gardening and fishing, rendered in watercolour, applied mother-of-pearl and steel elements, paillons, feathers and straw-work


Condition

very slight wear to sticks, the leaf splitting along folds and time stained, slight rusting of steel elements, one or two mother-of-pearl sleevers lacking and scattered paillons, the reverse of the leaf strengthened along folds.
