guillochée, ceinte de bordures feuillagées, la bâte à stries verticales, poinçon de maître, 3e titre et garantie de Paris ; une tabatière en or de 14 ct rectangulaire ornée de fleurs de quatre tons sur un fond guilloché, poinçonné : 14 dans deux feuilles, Allemagne, vers 1835, poinçon d'importation français tardif ; et une autre, à pans coupés, le couvercle gravé de Flore assise, poinçonné F entre deux étoiles, la bordure numérotée 225, Allemagne, vers 1830

of pocket-fitting form, wavy engine-turning within foliate borders, sides vertically reeded, maker's mark, Paris bear's head 3e titre et garantie; a rectangular 14 ct gold snuff box applied with four-colour gold flowers on a patterned engine-turned ground, struck 14 within two leaves, German, circa 1835, later French import marks; and another, cut-cornered, the lid engraved with the seated figure of Flora, the base with flowers on a wavy striped ground, struck F between two stars, the rim numbered: 225, German, circa 1830


Condition

First has wear at corners and hinge repaired; other two OK.

Catalogue Note

Simon-Achille Léger entered two marks, featuring an apple and a bow in different positions, for 'le gros bijou: la tabatière et la partie du nécessaire' in 1815/16 and then in 1820; this last was was withdrawn on 30 December 1826. He is recorded at two addresses in Paris: 13 rue du Roule in 1817 and 8 rue des Prouvaires in 1822. He was succeeded at this latter address by the gold box maker Louis-François Tronquoy.
