Catalogue Note

The history of the firm of Rozet & Fischmeister is said to have begun in 1770 when Nicolas Rozet, a French Huguenot, set up business as a marchand mercier in Vienna. His son Ignaz Franz won the title of Hofgalantariewarenhändler and went into business with the goldsmith Franz Karl Fischmeister in 1860. The firm continued to flourish at Kohlmarkt 11 ('zum goldenen Ringe'), particularly with its art nouveau jewellery, and is still in family hands today
