Catalogue Note

Joachim von Ribbentrop (1893-1946) acted as German Ambassador at large during the mid nineteen-thirties and then as Ambassador to Great Britain where his name was linked, perhaps scurrilously, with that of Mrs Simpson. In 1938 he was appointed German Foreign Minister. He was condemned to death at the Nuremberg trials and executed in 1946.
