double-opening, the rim engraved: Cartier London, the exterior decorated with a chequered pattern, gadrooned borders and sides, applied rose diamond thumbpieces, the interior with four compartments, one lidded, 11.5cm, 4 ½ in ; and a jewelled two-coloured gold compact, maker's mark apparently MC in a lozenge, other mark illegible, numbered: 147, rectangular, circa 1965, applied with raised leaf and sapphire blossom thumbpiece on a sunray engraved ground, 7.5cm, 2 7/8 in
