embossed and chased with Regence ornament enclosing the black enamelled dial and four enamelled medallions painted with images of the Descent from the Cross, Faith, Hope and Charity above inscription in Jesu mutter herzen ruth glaub liebe hoffnung und demuth, Fame cresting, metal backed, fitted movement similarly engraved and signed Christi. Heinrich Hähnel F. by Nürnberg. The movement with replaced striking train and now with trip repeating on the rear mounted bell, verge escapement.

Condition

Frame cresting broken off, pendulum arm repaired and bent, metal paint work at backing much desintigrated, otherwise a few minor dents only, enamels appear in good condition, overall pretty good condition. Movement will just run but would benefit from a clean and service, striking train replaced and now with trip repeating.

Catalogue Note

Christian Heinrich Haehnel (1695-1754) est né à Zwickau en Saxonie. Celèbre horloger, il voyagea à Prague, Leipzig, Dresden, Danzig, Hamburg, Berlin, Stettin and Nürnberg avant de s'installer à Fürth. Une pendule est conservée à Nuremberg au Germanisches Nationalmyseum.
