Description
- Jacob Toorenvliet
- Portrait of a man, bust length, in black costume with a white flat collar
- oil on panel, oval
Provenance
Bought by the father of the present owner before the 1940s.
Condition
The actual painting is deeper in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The single panel is flat and stable. No damages are apparent. The paint layer is secure, if somewhat abraded in the darker tones. The paint surface is under a slightly dirty and glossy varnish. Some minor old retouchings can be made out with the naked eye in the figure's coat, and a few pinpoint size ones in the figure's face, but further inspection under UV light is impeded by the thick varnish.
Offered in a decorative gilt platser and wood frame with some minor losses.
