Description
- Gerrit van Vucht
- Still life with a dead duck, fish, pears, eggs, a copper pot and other objects, all arranged on a kitchen cabinet
- bears initials lower right: F. v.S.
- oil on panel
Condition
The actual painting is slightly softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The single panel is sound and bevelled to the reverse. There's a thin diagonal retouched surface scratch visible below the upper edge, and a small vertical repaired crack of approx. 3 cm. in the lower left corner, but otherwise, no damages are apparent. The paint layer is secure and under a somewhat dirty varnish layer. Some old tiny retouches along the wood grain can be observed in the cabinet and background. Inspection under UV light reveals a few additional tiny scattered, more recent, retouches in the background and cabinet, and a small surface scratch along the upper edge, but only a few minimal ones in the still life.
Offered in a dark wood frame with milled fillets and a gilt fillet, with some minor losses.
