Condition
The painting is slightly less yellow than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The panel is un-cradled, flat and stable. The painting is covered with a thin layer of slightly discoloured varnish. There is a very thin vertical split to the lower right, which has been reinforced to the reverse with a small batton. The paint surface is in fair condition; overall abraded in the darker tones, but with some brush work nicely preserved in the lighter tones. Inspection under UV light reveals minor retouches scattered throughout the composition, which are more frequent in the background, and some additional strengthening to the shadows of the objects.
Offered in a later oak plain wood frame, in good condition.
