Description

  • A cavalry battle

Condition

The catalogue illustration is representative for the actual painting. The flat and stable panel consists of two horizontal planks and is bevelled along the left and right margins. There's a thin horizontal split in the upper left corner, but otherwise, no damages are apparent. The paint layer is secure, if fairly abraded in some areas. The paint surface is under a very dirty varnish. Some tiny scattered old discoloured retouches can be made out in the sky Inspection under UV light is largely impeded by the dirty varnish, but does reveal two thin retouched surface scratches, one in the horse in the centre and one to the lower right. Offered in a plain gilt wood frame with decorations in all four corners, in fair condition.
