Description

  • casket with mythological scenes including Apollo and Daphne and the Judgement of Paris
  • gilt wood with partially polychromed pastiglia

Condition

Overall the condition of the casket is good. There is wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age and handling with particular rubbing to the left side of the lid. There are several small losses to the pastiglia including to the legs and around the edges of the lid and box. There are a few stable fissures to the pastiglia, including to the pilaster on the front right corner. There are some loss pieces of pastiglia in the box. The plank on the underside was renewed or covered with a veneer. The handle and lock have been replaced.
