- carrara marble head set into a marble torso

by repute sold at Spencers of Retford, sale of Panton Hall, Lincolnshire, 1978/9
Condition
Overall the condition of the marble is good. There is wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age including some remains of glue on the proper left side of the neck. There is some weathering to the surface consistent with placement outside, particularly to the hair. There is dark naturally occurring veining consistent with material, including to the forehead, around the mouth, to the neck and under the breasts. There are several nicks and losses particularly around the truncation of both the torso and the neck. There is a reattached section on the proper right side of the neck. The head is held in place by plaster. An iron loop is set into the reverse with lead for mounting.
