Condition
The picture is relined. Overall this painting presents a strong image and has good coloration and retention of paint. The surface appears slightly dirty overall, but not overly so, and the varnish is not too strong or discolored. UV light reveals repaired canvas punctures to the left and right of the head of the woman at left. Each of these punctures measures approximately two inches across. A couple small retouches are also visible in the face of the same woman. Otherwise, the other figures and overall composition are very well preserved, with no significant repairs other than the aforementioned punctures. Perhaps a light cleaning would freshen the work. In a carved wood frame.
