Panel is cradled. there is a horizontal panel join visible to naked eye which runs through the upper background. two small horizontal cracks (about 2 in. long) can be seen at upper and lower left edge and another (about 3 in. long) at lower right edge. most of the figures and still life elements are well retained. the browns of the architecture and some of the objects at far left side are somewhat abraded and have lost some definition. there are scattered thinnesses in the darks of the upper background. ultraviolet light reveals retouching along join and small cracks mentioned above. a larger area of retouching can be seen on the dark cloak of the bird-like creature in center foreground. other smaller retouches scattered here and there, mostly in background. some scuffing at top edge. In a dark faux-ebony wood frame with gilt inner rim.
