Condition

The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The composition with the blue Morning Glories hanging off the ledge, like its mate, has been lined using wax as an adhesive onto a solid support which in turn has been backed with linen. All of this is quite easily reversible if required. In this painting there is a damage in the middle of the right side which runs approximately three by two inches and another in the upper right corner, running for approximately two inches. The remainder of the picture is in lovely and fresh condition. The composition with the two blue butterflies in the lower right is in lovely condition, having none of the structural damages of its mate. These paintings can be hung in their current state but the linings are easily reversible.
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues.
