The canvas is relined. The sky has numerous small scattered retouches applied. These retouches are applied in small brushtrokes, and none are applied to repair major damages. To the naked eye, many appear as slightly yellowed, freer brush strokes. Given the number of small retouches in the sky, to the naked eye they are not overly disturbing and appear to have been applied quite well. UV also reveals a more intact line of retouching along the left edge, possibly due to old frame abrasion or stretcher damage. The architecture, figures and lower third of the composition with steps and gondola all appear to be untouched and in lovely condition. Again, to the naked eye the picture presents a very strong image. In a carved gilt wood frame.
