L'immagine in fotografia è fedele all'originale. La superficie pittorica si mostra stabile, per quanto leggermente screpolata e schiacciata in alcuni punti. La craquelure un pò aperta che si osserva sul volto di Giuditta è facilmente sanabile con un semplice intervento di restauro. Più svelati si mostrano invece i brani pittorici in basso a sinistra, sulla veste rossa e il manto blu, che mostra di aver perso gli originali ricami dorati e la materia appare in generale piuttosto ossidata, come visibile anche da foto. L'osservazione con la lampada di Wood non denuncia estese ridipinture, ma rivela solo una spessa vernice ingiallita e ossidata che occlude in parte l'analisi approfondita. Alcune chiusure localizzate si osservano sul volto di Giuditta, in coincidenza, appunto, delle crepe più ampie e della stretta della mano sull'elsa della spada. Il dipinto potrebbe beneficiare di un intervento di pulitura e restauro. Viene offerto in asta con una cornice intagliata e dorata moderna. La tela di supporto è rifoderata.
