The flat and stable support appears to consist of one panel. A horizontal wooden bar has been set into the upper half of the reverse. The paint surface is largely secure though very dirty and somewhat abraded in the darker tones. Some of the original brushwork in the Madonna's garment has been well-preserved. There are two fairly small circular areas of paint loss along the left hand margin, one central and the other in the upper corner. The paint surface is covered in a thick, uneven varnish, and further irregularities in the surface can be seen upper left, where three vein-like lines are apparent on the paint surface. A small spot of paint loss can be discerned along one of these, just to the left of the Madonna's head. There is furthermore an old damage lower left, approx. 3cm2 in size which has resulted in some paint loss. Inspection under UV light is thoroughly impeded by the varnish on the painting but does suggest some old patches of retouchings throughout the painting. Offered in an ornate gilt wood and plaster, glazed frame with some minor losses and old discoloured retouchings to the gilding.
