Condition
STRUCTURE
On its original stable flat panel laid down on a wooden structure
PAINT SURFACE
The painting appears to be in good overall condition. There is some minor cracking to the paint surface in the sitter's forehead, philtrum and collar. There is minor visible retouching to these areas and elsewhere on the sitter's temple, nose and to the corner of her mouth.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals further minor retouching in the headress, and on the left wing of the sitter's collar along an old crack measuring approx. 6 cm. There is a thick discoloured varnish and several futher very minor scattered retouchings overall.
FRAME
Held in a wood and plaster black and gold frame.
