Condition
There is an old loose relining. The paint surface is secure although somewhat abraded under an old yellowed varnish. There is an areas of tiny scattered losses in the curtain upper left which is visible in the catalogue illustration. The aforementioned varnish impedes thorough inspection under UV light. Offered in a gilt wood frame in good condition.

The attribution to Onorio Marinari has been confirmed by Dr. Francesca Baldassari. Another autograph version of this composition is in the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen (see S. Bellesi, Catalogo dei Pittori Fiorentini del '600 e '700, Florence 2009, vol I, p. 191, reproduced vol. III, p. 82, no. 988).
