Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. STRUCTURE The painting appears to be in good condition and there are no signs of apparent paint loss or damage. There is a layer or dirt and discoloured varnish overall, which gives the painting the appearance of being very dark in tone. This should respond well to a light clean. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals scattered minor retouching and strengthening overall, as well as minor strengthening to the signature. Ultraviolet also confirms the discolouration and opacity of the varnish. FRAME Held in a carved and gilded rococo style wooden frame.
