Description

  • Théodore Rousseau
  • Landscape with a peasant working in a field, a ridge of hills in the distance
  • Pen and gray ink and wash on blue paper

Provenance

Bears the artist's studio stamp (L.2436),
the artist's posthumous sale, Paris, Durand-Ruel et Brame, 27-30 April 1868

Condition

The drawing is laid down onto a 19th century mount, which has in turn been laid down on a board. The paper is lightly foxed with tiny spots (barely noticeable) and also some very minor ink spots near the upper right corner. Otherwise the drawing is in good condition and the ink is still strong and fresh.
