  • All gouache and watercolor over black chalk with gum arabic on vellum; with double framing lines in brown ink and gold;
    all signed in brown ink in the lower left corner:  P. Bessa.

Bessa prepared some 572 watercolors for L'Herbier Général de L'Amateur by Mordant de Launey and Loiseleur Longchamp, which was published between 1810 and 1826.  See also following lot.
