Paper somewhat dirty. Light water stain and repaired loss, lower left. Diagonal crease across bottom right corner. Chalk good and strong.

The figure type seen here is very reminiscent of the works of the Dutch Pre-Rembrandtists, and in particular of Pieter Lastman, but the specific handling cannot be convincingly compared with Lastman, or any of the other artists of this group by whom a significant number of drawings are known.
