Condition

Laid down, some staining to the right side near the margin of the drawn lunette and a bit detectable also to the left side. Some oxidation of the white. Irregularly cut to the right and tip of the corner missing bottm right . Overall in quite good condition

Catalogue Note

This drawing appears to be preparatory, with many differences, for the fresco decoration on the 'controfacciata' of the oratory of the church of SS. Nazario and Celso at Multedo (Genoa), completed by Tavarone in 1634 (fig. 1).  The decoration of the oratory included eight episodes from the lives of the two saints and The Last Supper.  The architectural setting of the fresco is the same as in the drawing but some of the figures and the apostles seated at the long and narrow table have been modified.1
