Catalogue Note
Sirani visited the subject on at least one other occasion.1 The treatment of the thickly applied paint to describe David's curls can be closely compared to that of the figure of Eliezer in the Rebecca and Eliezer in the Pitti Gallery, Florence (see E. Negro and M. Pirondini, La scuola di Guido Reni, Modena 1992, p. 369, reproduced p. 374, fig. 354).
