With Leonard Koetser, London;
Acquired from the above by the late owner.

Exhibited

London, Leonard Koetser, Spring Exhibition, 1966, cat. no 37.

Condition

The colours are slightly lighter and brighter than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has an old relining which is still sound. Overall the painting is in very nice condition with no major damages or repairs. Inspection under ultra violet light shows that the background has been washed over in the past, and that many details of the leaves and the green cloth have also been lightly strengthened. The central areas of the design appear to be very well preserved indeed with no later intervention. The varnish has yellowed slightly but is still clear and even. This lot is sold with a modern composite gilt wood frame in good condition.
