Provenance

De Satge Family, Spain, in the 19th Century;

Thence by descent to the previous owner.

Condition

The painting has recently been cleaned and restored and is in good condition overall. The canvas has a firm relining, but this has not overly flattened the paint surface. The details of the flowers are well-preserved and no major damages are apparent. Inspection under UV light reveals only scattered local retouchings or strengthening work, for example to the columns, where the paint is worn or thinly applied, several central blooms, the hawthorn flowers lower right, and the plums and grapes lower left. The varnish is clear and even and the painting will require no further attention. Offered in an ebonised wood wood frame with gilt sight edge in good condition.
