Catalogue Note
This pair is typical of Migliara's style and illustrate both his interest in the soft play of light and his predilection for capriccio settings, and in particular ruins. A comparable though larger work (47 by 89 cm) which almost mirrors the composition of the evening landscape was sold New York, Sotheby's, 22 January 2004, lot 98, for $200,000.
