Condition
The flat single-panel support is stable. The paint surface is secure and clean and to the naked eye appears in good condition, with the impsto well preserved. Inspection under UV light reveals very minor spot retouchings in the background as well as a more concentrated patch around the inscription lower right (though the insciption itself is original). Overall in good condition and can hang now.

The painting depicts a 16th-century Milanese rock crystal goblet, which now resides in the collection of the Louvre, but was formerly owned by the Dauphin, son of Louis XIV (see D. Alcouffe, Les Gemmes de la Couronne, Paris 2001, p. 238, cat. no. 101, reproduced).
