Condition

The canvas has a good modern relining which has not negatively impacted the clean paint surface. To the naked eye the painting appears in good condition with the vibrant colours well preserved. Inspection under UV light confirms the good condition with just some minor scattered retouchings flourescing. Offered in a modern reproduction frame in good condition.

Catalogue Note

One other forest-floor piece with thistles and dock by Maas is known, an upright composition, signed but undated, in Warsaw, Wilanov Museum.1
