Condition

Sir Thomas Lawrence P.R.A. (Bristol 1769-1830 London) Portrait of a Young Girl: The pastel has been well preserved and carefully presented. There is occasional surface dirt to the sheet and three very small paper losses (which can only be seen on very close inspection). There are two small tears to the sheet, the first measures circa 7 mm, and is located at the lower edge. The second measures 3 mm, and is located at the upper edge of the composition. Please note, this work has not been examined out of its frame. The gilt-wood frame is a little worn. Portrait of Philip Glover: Overall this pastel has been well preserved. There are areas within the composition where the pigments have suffered from minor rubbing, this is particularly true of the sitter's forehead. The sheet may have been cut down and the extreme edges are irregular. The sheet has been laid down. Attributed to Charles Grignion (London bap. 1721-1810) Self-Portrait: This work has been well preserved and carfeully presented. The medium remains strong and fresh. There is evidence of minor surface dirt and occasional very minor foxmarks. The sheet has not been laid down.
