Provenance
Sale, London, Christie's, 18 April 1967, lot 53 to Walter Brandt (as Thomas Wyck)
Catalogue Note
The delicate use of grey wash to describe the bridge and distant landscape are reminiscent of the work of Jan's father Thomas, but the figures and the handling of the pen and brown ink are more typical of Jan. A close comparison may be made with his important drawing A Race Meeting on Newmarket Heath, sold in these Rooms, 10 July 2002, lot 175.
