Description

  • Jean-Jacques-Fran�ois Le Barbier
  • A: Jupiter assuming the form of Diana to seduce Callisto; B: Cupid being shown to his Mother by her Attendants
  • Both pen and black ink and brown wash with touches of coloured washes, over black chalk;
    A: bears monogram and date lower left on the rock: NE(?)..Roma 1764;
    B: bears monogram lower centre: NE (?)

Condition

Both laid down on mount. There is slight discolouration to the paper in both drawings. Cupid being shown to his Mother Diana by her Attendants: There is a small bleach like stain at the lower right margin which overlaps onto the mount. Overall the medium remains fairly fresh in both drawings.
