  • Three Illustrations of Flowers from the Herbier Général de l'Amateur
  • All gouache and watercolour over black chalk with gum arabic on vellum, with double framing lines in brown ink and gold;
    all signed in brown ink lower left: P. Bessa.

Condition

All in extremely good condition. The vellum has undulated slightly in all three. All are framed.

Bessa prepared some 572 watercolors for L'Herbier Général de L'Amateur by Mordant de Launey and Loiseleur Longchamp, which was published between 1810 and 1826.  See also the following lot.
