Condition

Sold in a small gilded frame. Overall the condition is very good, there are a few creases in the paper but the medium is fresh and the sheet remains in good condition.

Catalogue Note

Augustin de Saint-Aubin produced many intimate studies like this one.  A group of comparable studies were sold in these Rooms on 20 April 1967, lots 162-168.  This and the others most probably came from a sketchbook which was possibly drawn around 1780-85.
