Filippo Falciatore

The support consists of a single horizontal flat piece of copper. The paint surface is in good condition but dirty. There are a few scattered spots of paint loss, upper right, to the right of the swan and upper left but these are minor and no major damages to the work are apparent. A handful of minor scattered spot retouchings to the work fluoresce under UV light, with Leda and the Swan remaining largely untouched. Offered in a gilt wood frame in fair condition.

The painting must have formed part of the same series as the pair of coppers also by Falciatore of the same dimensions offered Christie's, Monaco, 7 December 1987, lot 40.
