Follower of Jan Frans van Dael

The painting is on paper which has been laid on canvas. There is some frame abrasion and some loss to the paper along the upper and lower margins. The paint surface is in good condition though it has become a little thin in the darker tones, and is a little dirty. No major damages to the work are apparent, though there is an area upper left where the paper is ligting above the canvas forming a 'bubble'. Inspection under UV light is impeded by the varnish covering the work but does reveal fairly extensive retouchings to the background of the painting especially in the lower half of the painting and around the flower arrangement. There is also a patch of retouching just above the aforementioned area of 'bubbling' but just a few scattered spot retouchings to the remainer of the painting fluoresce. Offered unframed.
