Description

  • Maximilien Joseph Schinagl
  • An extensive mountainous landscape with buildings, riders and other figures
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The canvas has been relined. The figures to the right of the foreground have become a little thin but otherwise the paint surface is in good condition, if a little dirty. A fine craquelure runs throughout the painting and there is an area of old lifting in the clouds upper centre. No major damages to the work are apparent. Inspection under UV light reveals some larger areas of retouchings to the sky upper left and to the left hand trees and elsewhere scattered spot retouchings fluoresce over a reflective varnish. Offered in a modern gilt wood frame in good condition.
