Condition
The actual painting is lighter and shows more detail than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single piece of panel is stable and bevelled on all sides. A repaired crack runs horizontally along the lower edge and is reinforced to the reverse, but is hardly visible to the front. The paint surface is sound, but fairly thin in the background, which has been filled by tiny retouchings, following the wood grain. This is mainly visible under UV light. UV also reveals tiny retouchings in the figures, and the repaired crack along the lower edge as well. Offered in a wooden cabinet style frame, in good condition. (ML)
