Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The painting appears to be in good condition, with no apparent extant damage or loss of paint. There is an old and slightly dirty varnish overall. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals retouching to one area, in the background, centre left, and a small number of minor scattered retouchings overall. FRAME Held in a gilded wooden eighteenth century style frame with a coronet at the top.
