Condition
STRUCTURE
Both canvases have been lined.
PAINT SURFACE
The first (He) appears to be in very good condition. There is minor surface dirt overall with what appears bird excrement in the upper right which should clean off easily if treated with distilled water. There is no apparent damage or loss of paint except for a very minor protrusion in the lower centre casued by surplus debris caught between the canvas and the lower stretcher bar verso. The second (she) appears to e in good condition however there is again surface dirt overall. There is some very minor scattered flaking in the lower right and in the centre left to the background.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination of both under ultraviolet light reveals a thick discoloured varnish overall that makes further inspection difficult.
FRAME
Held in matching gilt wood and plaster frames.
