STRUCTURE The picture has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The paint surface appeatrs to be in very good condition. There is a fine uneven craquelure overall in keeping with the paintng's age. There is no apparent damage or loss of paint except for some minor flaking in the lower right by the canvas edge. ULTRAVIOLET Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some very minor scattered retouching to the background and fabrics. There is also some strenthening to the fleshtones of the sitter's right arm as well as to the profile of the left.
