Condition

Old glue relining is firm and stable. the paint surface has been very well retained and there is good impasto throughout. some areas of craquelure are scattered with some heavier areas such as to the right of his chin, to top of leopard skin on both right and left, and on some of the grape leaves in his hair. while these areas are noticeable, they are not too distracting. under UV: there is a milky varnish which makes it difficult to see; there are some small retouches to fingers of upper hand and a tiny dot of retouching under left eye. painting is presentable and could be hung in its present state. In a black wood frame with gilt outer and inner rim.
