Condition

The canvas is lined. The surface of the work is in generally good condition. The surface is dirty. Scattered pigment separation particularly in boy playing flute. Pigment is pressed. Slightly abraided from cleaning, particularly in the central figures face and chest area. Area of puckering from moisture above and between two women. Under UV; Scattered areas of retouching., together with broadly brushed areas of retouching over the two women. A few areas addressing holes in the canvas, each about 2 by 2 inches. A newer line or retouching along the left edge, together with drippy newer varnish. Retouching along lower edge with retouching, particularly under the feet of the two main figures.
