Catalogue Note
According to William Retford, on a visit to Vuillaume's workshop in Paris, William Ebsworth Hill was impressed by F.N. Voirin's work. On his return to London, he instructed James Tubbs to make something similar. The head of this bow is Tubbs' interpretation of Voirin's work, and the frog and adjuster clearly follow Vuillaume's pattern.
