Provenance
The bass was bought by the well-known pedagogue Isiae Bille in the late 1940s and subsequently passed to Frederick Zimmerman. Since then it has been owned and played by two members of the New York Philharmonic - Luigi Raviola and a Mr. Botti - and then by the principal of the Cleveland Orchestra, David Perlman. Until recently the bass has been known as the work of Maggini.
